The start of day four started with a great conversation between the interns and the students. Three interns, Danny Ballout, Perrisha Robinson, and myself, Aasiaonnia Thomas, talked to the students about our college experience at Virginia Union University. We also spoke to the students about the importance of loving the institution they will attend in the future and embracing school pride. The students also learned how important it is to find mentors or people they can look up to that will be able to support them during their college journey and through life. After the discussion, the students started working on their videos that must be completed for competition Friday.
The second half of the day included the students learning about Cyber security. Intern, Perrisha Robinson, who is majoring in Cyber security at Virginia Union University, took the lead on teaching the students about the fundamentals of the subject. Ms. Robinson talked to the students about how important Cyber security is to all electronics. Cyber security is the protection of computer systems from threats such as malware, a virus, and ransomware. Cyber security not only protects the software of a system, but also the hardware and services that it can provide.

As the first week for these students begin to come to a close, they are starting to get ready for competition Friday. On competition Friday, the students will have to take a test on the parts of the computer and other aspects of the computer that they learned. They will also have to dismantle and reassemble a computer in a timely fashion. A part of the competition is to complete a video talking about their first week at the STEM Camp. The three students that complete all the tasks correctly and the fastest will earn a reward for first, second, and third place. I am very impressed and proud of the students so far. I cannot wait to see what they will accomplish in the second week of camp.
