STEM Camp 2019 - Session 1, Day 4 = Kickball!
Day four was a more relaxing day for the students before the big competition day on Friday. Even though it was relaxing, they still had work to do. The students started working on planning their video, which they must complete in order to qualify for the prizes on competition day. This year’s prizes include 500 dollars for first place, 250 dollars for second place, and 150 dollars for third. To compete for these prizes, the students must not only make a video, but they must also dismantle and reassemble computers in a specific time frame.
The second half of the day included some fun activities for the students. The students were able to play games and view videos on their computers after getting them online. After lunch, the students enjoyed time outside by participating in a kickball tournament. The interns also got the chance to play along and enjoy some free time. By the time the tournament was over, everyone was tired and ready to go home.
This week has been fun for both the students and interns. For myself, it has been great seeing how engaged the students are and how curious they are about technology. Not only have the students gained new knowledge, but I have as well. As we all prepare for the weekend, we are also getting prepared for the second week of the STEM Camp. The second week will involve programming and cybersecurity. When Monday comes, I know we will all be every excited to see what the week brings.
